My Statement

"Let me emphatically say that I am not anti-Facebook (Fleecebook), anti-smart phone, anti-Microsoft, anti-Apple, anti-Google or anti-Internet. I do believe, though, that the consumer is being ripped off of his privacy, identity and purchase history. We are being herded into a Facebook corner where what we "Like" and where we go physically and on the net will be scrutinized and sold numerous times to actually corrode and erode our culture while tempting us only with convenience, high tech and flashing video screens. The unsuspecting consumers need to be aware..." - Gary Lapman

The Anti-Social Network

Resistance is Not Futile...
Last night we watched "The Social Network".  Putting aside that the story is a historical repeat of someone being in the right place at the right time to make "the next big thing", the movie scared me even more.  If Zuckerberg is anything remotely like his socially inept character in the movie, all of us that have Facebook accounts are in REAL big trouble.  This guy had trouble concentrating on ANYTHING except Facebook.  He had no friends except one and knifed him in the back.  He is fanatical and is probably the type of person that should be constantly observed for when he is going to blow...  He keeps all of his emotions bottled up.  This picture is being considered for an award, but I don't think it will happen.  It is a pretty good story, based on fact- but I think the character portrayed in the movie is spot on.

Today we went down to Ojai to spend a bit of time with Tori before she returns to school tomorrow.  I noticed in the paper that there was an ad for the Ojai Peddler's Faire and it sounded like fun.  We were glad it was free because it was very disappointing.  Fortunately, one of our favorite restaurants is there, so the whole day wasn't lost.

HOW TO INSTALL A HOME SECURITY SYSTEM
1. Go to a secondhand store and buy a pair of men's used size 14-16 work boots.

2. Place them on your front porch, along with a copy of Guns & Ammo Magazine.

3. Put a few giant dog dishes next to the boots and magazines.

4. Leave a note on your door that reads:

"Bubba,

Bertha, Duke, Slim, & I went for more ammo and beer. Be back in an hour.
Don't mess with the pit bulls; they attacked the mailman this morning and
messed him up bad. I don't think Killer took part, but it was hard to tell
from all the blood. Anyway, I locked all four of 'em in the house.

Better wait outside. Be right back.
