Last evening, I was volunteering for a few hours to help set up the Lemon Festival at a local park. While we were measuring and marking the lawn, there were young children practicing soccer all around us. I can't tell you how much I miss those days when I took my kids to soccer practice and then had the privilege to watch them play, interact with other parents, share snacks with the other players. At the end of the season, we were able to help celebrate all the high points of the season, wins and losses, at a party. It was very pleasurable. I didn't know how much I missed it until I was reminded. I guess there are lots of things like that. Now my youngest is going to go to school in Rome. What a major amount of change has occurred in such a short time. It gives me regrets that I have grown old so fast and can no longer experience my kids growing up. I wonder what other past moments I have forgotten.
A husband was just coming out of anesthesia after a series of tests in the hospital, his wife was sitting at his bedside.
His eyes fluttered open, and he murmured, "You're beautiful."
Flattered, she continued her vigil while he drifted back to sleep.
Later he woke up and said, "You're cute."
"What happened to 'beautiful'?" she asked him.
"The drugs are wearing off" he replied.
