My Statement

"Let me emphatically say that I am not anti-Facebook (Fleecebook), anti-smart phone, anti-Microsoft, anti-Apple, anti-Google or anti-Internet. I do believe, though, that the consumer is being ripped off of his privacy, identity and purchase history. We are being herded into a Facebook corner where what we "Like" and where we go physically and on the net will be scrutinized and sold numerous times to actually corrode and erode our culture while tempting us only with convenience, high tech and flashing video screens. The unsuspecting consumers need to be aware..." - Gary Lapman

Watson Rules...

Apparently the formula for Coca-Cola has been broadcast on the radio.  Will this hurt their sales? Is this Un-American activity?  I'm sure they will survive.

Watson did a pretty good job on Jeopardy last night.  I was really expecting the computer to process the spoken clue, but Trebek said that it receives the clues in text form.  It is amazing to me that so much computing power is necessary to deal with the inferences and anecdotal clues.  It was also revealed that the computer does not have any access to the internet and can only reference what had been loaded into its database.  Also, by not having voice input processing, Watson was unable to determine that a human supplied answer was wrong and it shouldn't supply the same answer.   We'll see if it learned sufficiently to win tonight.  Tonight it took way off and finished way in the lead...

Looks like the protesters in Iran will get their reward as the Iranian goverment has decided to execute the protest leaders.  I guess the Iranians are much different than Egyptians...

At Sunday School they were teaching how God created everything, including human beings. Little Johnny seemed especially interested when they told him how Eve was created out of one of Adam's ribs.

Later in the week his mother noticed him lying down as though he were ill, and said, "Johnny what is the matter?"

Little Johnny responded, "I have a pain in my side. I think I'm going to have a wife."
