Another Security Alert (this is getting monotonous): Facebook applications have leaked user information for years! Why does this risk keep growing instead of being tamed ? Isn't the bad publicity enough impetus to get these holes plugged? Modern companies are so disappointing!
Due to the current financial situation caused by the slowdown of economy, Management has decided to implement a scheme to put workers of 40 years of age and above on early retirement. This scheme will be known as RAPE (Retire Aged People Early).
Persons selected to be RAPED can apply to management to be eligible for the SHAFT scheme (Special Help After Forced Termination). Persons who have been RAPED and SHAFTED will be reviewed under the SCREW program (Scheme Covering Retired Early Workers). A person may be RAPED once, SHAFTED twice and SCREWED as many times as Management deems appropriate.
Persons who have been RAPED can only get AIDS (Additional Income for Dependents & Spouse) or HERPES (Half Earnings for Retired Personnel Early Severance).
Obviously persons who have AIDS or HERPES will not be SHAFTED or SCREWED any further by Management.
Persons who are not RAPED and are staying on will receive as much SHIT (Special High Intensity Training) as possible. Management has always prided itself on the amount of SHIT it gives employees. Should you feel that you do not receive enough SHIT, please bring to the attention of your Manager. They have been trained to give you all the SHIT you can get.
Great, as if I didn't get enough shit already....

My Statement
"Let me emphatically say that I am not anti-Facebook (Fleecebook), anti-smart phone, anti-Microsoft, anti-Apple, anti-Google or anti-Internet. I do believe, though, that the consumer is being ripped off of his privacy, identity and purchase history. We are being herded into a Facebook corner where what we "Like" and where we go physically and on the net will be scrutinized and sold numerous times to actually corrode and erode our culture while tempting us only with convenience, high tech and flashing video screens. The unsuspecting consumers need to be aware..." - Gary Lapman

MS-Skype
Say goodbye to FREE calling on Skype. Now that Microsoft has bought the company for over $8 billion, I'm sure it will no longer be reliable and will probably cost to install or use...or you'll be flooded with ads... Wonder what they might do with it? Here are some possibilities....
What will be THE NEXT BEST THING? Will it be a gadget? An app? There were always rumors in the past about a pill that could be thrown into a tank of water to create a combustible mixture that you could run your car on....Whatever happened to that? Snuffed by the oil companies? What about a super efficient solar panel that makes enough power to run your whole house on- giving you grid independence? I'd like to see a solar conductor paint that I paint my house with and it can be tapped for power. How about an automobile tire with zero rolling resistance? Or an electric airplane that has solar collectors over the whole plane? How about a smart phone that doesn't spy on you without your permission or PAYS you for the information which supports the cost of your phone! What a novel idea!
Say goodbye to your current house- quickly look for a smaller one. A study just revealed that 85% of college grads move back home! I knew it was a lot, but I didn't think it was that much....

Chutzpah is a Yiddish word meaning gall, brazen nerve, effrontery, sheer guts plus arrogance and, as Leo Rosten writes, no other word, and no other language, can do it justice. This is a great example:
A little old lady sold pretzels on a street corner for a dollar each. Every day a young man would leave his office building at lunch time and as he passed the pretzel stand he would leave her a dollar, but never take a pretzel. This went on for more than 3 years. The two of them never spoke.
One day as the young man passed the old lady's stand and left his dollar as usual, the pretzel lady spoke to him for the first time in over 3 years. Without blinking an eye she said: "They're a dollar and a quarter now."
A man calls home to his wife and says, "Honey, I've been invited to fly to Canada with my boss and several of his friends to go fishing, for the long weekend. This is a good opportunity for me to get that promotion I've been wanting, so could you please pack enough clothes for a three-day weekend. And also, would you get out my rod and tackle box from the attic? We're leaving at 4:30 pm from the office and I'll swing by the house to pick-up my things. Oh! And please pack my new navy blue silk pajamas.”
The wife thinks this sounds a bit odd, but, being the good wife, she does exactly what her husband asked.
Following the long weekend he returns home a little tired, but, otherwise, looking good. The wife welcomes him home and asks if he caught many fish?
He says, “Yes! Lots of walleyes, some bass, and a few pike.” "But", he said, "why didn't you pack my new blue silk pajamas, like I asked you to do?”
You'll love the answer.
The wife replies, "I did, they're in your tackle box".
Never, Never, Never try to outsmart a woman!
Three old guys are out walking.
First one says, "Windy, isn't it?"
Second one says, "No, its Thursday!"
Third one says, "So am I. Let's go get a beer!"

Another security alert: They have now determined that there are some apps that can link your name and personal data to your UDID(unique device identifier). This means that you are once again exposed. The reason that this will continue is that the user has NO CONTROL over the contents of the transmissions to your carrier.

Stung By One and Impressed by the Other
I am surprised that GM and Toyota are touting their hybrid's mileage without an explanation of how they came to that conclusion. It is absolutely ridiculous that their claims have not been challenged. If you drive a hybrid mostly on the freeway, your mileage will definitely suffer because hybrids are not light (battery weight). If you drive them below the magic speed (around 45), then you are only using electric components and your mileage will stretch way out.
We forced ourselves to finish our free rental copy of the Green Hornet last night, and truthfully felt that a hornet sting would have been better. The movie was poorly cast, poorly scripted, and just plain poor, very poor. The only five minutes of redemption for this flickered-out flick is the fabulous contents of the Hornet's garage. In a nutshell, it was an insult to the classic TV series as well as any age or gender audience.
For Mother's Day today, after a healthy brunch, we went to see Fast Five. It was original and well done. More special effects than you can count and the photography was fantastic of Rio de Janeiro. Vin Diesel versus The Rock- what a match...Four stars, at least...

Dear Child,
I am writing this slow because I know that you can't read fast.
We don't live where we did when you left home.
Your dad read in the paper that most accidents happen within 20 miles from your home so we moved.
I won't be able to send you the address, as the last family that lived here took the house numbers when they left so that they wouldn't have to change their address.
This place is real nice. It even has a washing machine. I'm not sure if it works too well though.
Last week I put a load in, pulled the chain, and haven't seen them since.
The weather isn't too bad here., it only rained twice last week, The first time it rained for three days and the second time for four days. The coat you wanted me to send you, your Uncle Steve said it would be a little too heavy to send in the mail with the buttons on, so we cut them off and put them in the pockets. We got another bill from the funeral home.
They said if we don't make the last payment on Grandma's grave, up she comes. John locked his keys in the car yesterday. We were worried because it took him two hours to get me and Shelby out.
Your sister had a baby this morning but I haven't found out what it is yet, so I don't know if you're an aunt or an uncle. If the baby is a girl, your sister is going to name it after me, she's going to call it Mom.
Uncle Pete fell in a whiskey vat last week. Some man tried to pull him out but he fought them off and drowned. We had him cremated and he burned for three days.
Three of your friends went off a bridge in a pick-up truck. Ralph was driving. He rolled down the window and swam to safety. Your two friends were in the back. They drowned because they couldn't get the tailgate down.
There isn't much more news at this time. Nothing much has happened.
PS, I was going to send you some money but the envelope was already sealed.

Two Semester Expansion...
We went to Oxy today to pick up my daughter for summer break (already). I am utterly amazed at how much stuff she seemed to accumulate in just two semesters. Luckily, my daughter didn't expand at the same rate... I'm sure that we had the car packed when we took her down, but not quite as full. Unfortunately, a few larger items would not fit and we had to leave them to be replaced next year. Meanwhile safe and sound at home...
Still trying to figure out last night's Fringe season finale. It started out in the future (2026), but it was actually one of the alternative futures. Peter backed up and chose another. I'm still trying to figure out who or what was part of that original future and what changed for the current alternative future. Also, who ARE the First People and who are the Observers ?

Paradigms Shifting Again
Ready for another paradigm shift? Netbooks are now toast, and book readers are almost there. The only factors keeping readers going are price and buyers that are unaware of tablets. Tablets are forcing laptop sales and desktops into relative oblivion. This is really a clear indication that computer users are willing to do without DVDs, printers, keyboards, mice, USB ports (on most) to have the unbridled freedom to peruse, read, barely respond- but not do very much content generation. They have also decided that they can keep their old laptop/desktop for a few more seasons, as long as they have their tablet. It is a strange industry, driven by tech, price, convenience....and lastly, the user's needs (which will be defined by the sellers). So the real question is, when will they put a phone in a tablet ??? Or when will they expand your HD TV remote into a tablet
When you occasionally have a really bad day, and you just need to take it out on someone, don't take it out on someone you know, take it out on someone you don't know.
I was sitting at my desk when I remembered a phone call I'd forgotten to make. I found the number and dialed it. A man answered, saying "Hello."
I politely said, "This is Chris. Could I please speak with Robyn Carter?"
Suddenly a manic voice yelled out in my ear "Get the right f***ing number!" and the phone was slammed down on me. I couldn't believe that anyone could be so rude. When I tracked down Robyn's correct number to call her, I found that I had accidentally transposed the last two digits.
After hanging up with her, I decided to call the 'wrong' number again.
When the same guy answered the phone, I yelled "You're an asshole!" and hung up. I wrote his number down with the word 'asshole' next to it, and put it in my desk drawer. Every couple of weeks, when I was paying bills or had a really bad day, I'd call him up and yell, "You're an asshole!" It always cheered me up.
When Caller ID was introduced, I thought my therapeutic 'asshole' calling would have to stop. So, I called his number and said, "Hi, this is John Smith from the telephone company. I'm calling to see if you're familiar with our Caller ID Program?"
He yelled "NO!" and slammed down the phone. I quickly called him back and said, "That's because you're an asshole!" and hung up.
One day I was at the store, getting ready to pull into a parking Spot. Some guy in a black BMW cut me off and pulled into the spot I had patiently waited for. I hit the horn and yelled that I'd been waiting for that spot, but the idiot ignored me. I noticed a "For Sale" sign in his back window, so I wrote down his number.
A couple of days later, right after calling the first asshole (I had his number on speed dial,) I thought that I'd better call the BMW asshole, too.
I said, "Is this the man with the black BMW for sale?"
He said, "Yes, it is." I asked, "Can you tell me where I can see it?" He said, "Yes, I live at 34 Oaktree Blvd, in Fairfax. It's a yellow rambler, and the car's parked right out in front."
I asked, "What's your name?"
He said, "My name is Don Hansen,"
I asked, "When's a good time to catch you, Don?"
He said, "I'm home every evening after five."
I said, "Listen, Don, can I tell you something?"
He said, "Yes?"
I said, "Don, you're an asshole!"
Then I hung up, and added his number to my speed dial, too. Now, when I had a problem, I had two assholes to call.
Then I came up with an idea. I called asshole ..1.
He said, "Hello."
I said, "You're an asshole!" (But I didn't hang up.)
He asked, "Are you still there?"
I said, "Yeah,"
He screamed, "Stop calling me,"
I said, "Make me,"
He asked, "Who are you?"
I said, "My name is Don Hansen."
He said, "Yeah? Where do you live?" I said, "Asshole, I live at 34 Oaktree Blvd, in Fairfax, a yellow rambler, I have a black Beamer parked in front."
He said, "I'm coming over right now, Don. And you had better start saying your prayers."
I said, "Yeah, like I'm really scared, asshole," and hung up.
Then I called Asshole ..2.
He said, "Hello?"
I said, "Hello, asshole,"
He yelled, "If I ever find out who you are..."
I said, "You'll what?"
He exclaimed, "I'll kick your ass,"
I answered, "Well, asshole, here's your chance. I'm coming over right now."
Then I hung up and immediately called the police, saying that I lived at 34 Oaktree Blvd , in Fairfax , and that I was on my way over there to kill my gay lover.
Then I called Channel 9 News about the gang war going down in Oaktree Blvd. in Fairfax.
I quickly got into my car and headed over to Fairfax. I got there just in time to watch two assholes beating the crap out of each other in front of six cop cars, an overhead news helicopter and surrounded by a news crew.
NOW I feel much better.
Anger management really does work.
Dumb People
Lets face it, there are a lot of dumb people out there. Sometimes you want to express how stupid they really are and here's how...
An intellect rivaled only by garden tools.
As smart as bait.
Chimney's clogged.
Doesn't have all his dogs on one leash.
Doesn't know much, bot leads the league in nostril hair.
Elevator doesn't go all the way to the top floor.
Forgot to pay his brain bill.
Her sewing machine's out of thread.
His antenna doesn't pick up all the channels.
His belt doesn't go through all the loops.
If he had another brain, it would be lonely.

Disgusted with Our Pakistani Friends(?)
Why is it that Pakistan CLAIMS that they did everything to help us capture Bin Laden, and now they are burning American flags in protest. I don't really believe that they know what they are doing. Considering that we give them millions of dollars in aid each year, this is very bad respect- on many counts. We should cut them off, entirely- instead of only threatening them. Let's see how they dance to the bullets...
I saw a beggar who was so broke that he was standing on the
Corner shouting as the cars went by,... "WILL WORK FOR CARDBOARD
AND A MAGIC MARKER!"
Means: "I'm going to drink myself dangerously stupid, and stand by a stream with a stick in my hand, while the fish swim by in complete safety."
"CAN I HELP WITH DINNER?"
Means: "Why isn't it already on the table?"
"UH HUH," "SURE, HONEY," OR "YES, DEAR..."
Means: Absolutely nothing. It's a conditioned response.
"IT WOULD TAKE TOO LONG TO EXPLAIN"
Means: "I have no idea how it works."
"I WAS LISTENING TO YOU. IT'S JUST THAT I HAVE THINGS ON MY MIND."
Means: "I was wondering if that redhead over there is wearing a bra."
"TAKE A BREAK HONEY, YOU'RE WORKING TOO HARD".
Means: "I can't hear the game over the vacuum cleaner."
"THAT'S INTERESTING, DEAR."
Means: "Are you still talking?"
"YOU KNOW HOW BAD MY MEMORY IS."
Means: "I remember the theme song to 'F Troop', the address of the first girl I ever kissed, and the vehicle identification numbers of every car I've ever owned, but I forgot your birthday."
"I WAS JUST THINKING ABOUT YOU, AND GOT YOU THESE ROSES".
Means: "The girl selling them on the corner was a real babe."
"OH, DON'T FUSS, I JUST CUT MYSELF, IT'S NO BIG DEAL."
Means: "I have actually severed a limb, but will bleed to death before I admit that I'm hurt."
"HEY, I'VE GOT MY REASONS FOR WHAT I'M DOING".
Means: "And I sure hope I think of some pretty soon."
"I CAN'T FIND IT."
Means: "It didn't fall into my outstretched hands, so I'm completely
clueless."
"WHAT DID I DO THIS TIME?"
Means: "What did you catch me at?"
"I HEARD YOU."
"I haven't the foggiest clue what you just said, and am hoping desperately that I can fake it well enough so that you don't spend the next 3 days yelling at me."
"YOU KNOW I COULD NEVER LOVE ANYONE ELSE."
Means: "I am used to the way you yell at me, and realize it could be worse."
"YOU LOOK TERRIFIC."
Means: "Please don't try on one more outfit, I'm starving."
"I'M NOT LOST. I KNOW EXACTLY WHERE WE ARE."
Means: "No one will ever see us alive again."
"WE SHARE THE HOUSEWORK."
Means: "I make the messes, she cleans them up."

The Mexican people were eagerly awaiting delivery and were disconsolate at the loss. So much so that they declared a national day of mourning which they still observe today.

Local Bureaucracy at Its Best
Apparently the Santa Barbara City Council has decided not to decide, at least not on their own. Ignoring the fact that the County and the city of Goleta have already decided on Marborg as the new trash hauler, the city council will spend up to $110,200 on a consultant to help it decided instead going with the local choice by other entities. Shame on you City Council. In hard times like today, a possible wrong choice of trash hauler is a better choice than SPENDING SO MUCH MONEY. I, of course, without any training or special capabilities would have helped them choose for FREE. What were they thinking ???
So I sent an email to the mayor and here is the response:
Santa Barbara Mayor
I was quite surprised. First, that the Mayor took the time to EVEN answer me- but more importantly, that bureaucratic pork has crept into our city charter REQUIRING an extra expenditure of time and monies. I will be quite surprised if they don't come to the same conclusion as the County and the City of Goleta.
1. Drive up to the cash machine.
2. Put down your car window.
3. Insert card into machine and enter PIN.
4. Enter amount of cash required and withdraw.
5. Retrieve card, cash and receipt.
6. Put window up.
7. Drive off.
FEMALE PROCEDURE
1. Drive up to cash machine.
2. Reverse and back up the required amount to align car window with the machine.
3. Set parking brake, put the window down.
4. Find handbag, remove all contents on to passenger seat to locate card.
5. Tell person on cell phone you will call them back and hang up.
6. Attempt to insert card into machine.
7. Open car door to allow easier access to machine due to its excessive distance from the car.
8. Insert card.
9. Re-insert card the right way.
10. Dig through handbag to find diary with your PIN written on the inside back page.
11. Enter PIN.
12. Press cancel and re-enter correct PIN.
13. Enter amount of cash required.
14. Check makeup in rear view mirror.
15. Retrieve cash and receipt.
16. Empty handbag again to locate wallet and place cash inside.
17. Write deposit amount in check register and place receipt in back of checkbook.
18. Re-check makeup.
19. Drive forward 2 feet.
20. Reverse back to cash machine.
21. Retrieve card.
22. Re-empty hand bag, locate card holder, and place card into the slot provided.
23. Give appropriate one-fingered hand signal to irate male driver waiting behind you.
24. Restart stalled engine and pull off.
25. Redial person on cell phone.
26. Drive for 2 to 3 miles.
27. Release Parking Brake.
So I sent an email to the mayor and here is the response:
Mr. Lapman -
The Santa Barbara City Charter requires the City to create a competitive bid process for franchises. The two trash hauler contracts are the city's largest franchises. So, the Council could not just decide to award a contract with just one company. The City of Goleta does not have that requirement, nor does the County. Even if the City was able to decide to sole source this contract, it would have to negotiate the terms of what could end up being a 10-Year $80Million contract. Ensuring that our residents have the best service possible at a fair rate requires outside expertise, so the Council would have had to hire a consultant for that portion of the process in any case, similar to the City of Goleta and the County. The funds used for this process are not general funds and will be reimbursed to the City by the successful hauler as part of their new contract.
I hope this information gives you a better insight of our required decision making process.
Sincerely,
Helene Schneider Santa Barbara Mayor

Upsides vs. Downsides
There may be many upsides as well as downsides to the assassination of Bin Laden. So far we have only seen one response from the Middle East countries: Libya wants a local encore. Many pundits are providing information that there will be retaliation. Is that worse than what we've had for the last ten years ? One of the upsides (jokingly) is that the Royal wedding has been displaced in the news. Many of the conservatives and Republicans have been thanking Bush. One wacky one, Palin, made a point of excluding Obama from her thank yous. I don't think anybody listens to the wacky ones anymore, such as Palin or Trump. I hear the Birthers want to be sure that Hawaii has their statehood papers in order. Well getting back to Osama: I think it would have been better if he was taken alive, but in some ways that would always provide hope for his followers. I don't believe that I would have buried him at sea, but I guess the valid reason was so that there was not a monument to his burial. I'm not sure about giving him Muslim last rites, as I really don't believe that he was a religious man, but only hid behind what was convenient.
A Loving Grandpa.....A woman in a supermarket is following a grandfather and his badly behaved 3 year-old grandson.
It's obvious to her that he has his hands full with the child screaming for sweets in the sweet aisle, biscuits in the biscuit aisle; and for fruit, cereal and pop in the other aisles.
Meanwhile, Granddad is working his way around, saying in a controlled voice, "Easy, William, we won't be long, easy, boy."
Another outburst, and she hears the granddad calmly say, "It's okay, William, just a couple more minutes and we'll be out of here. Hang in there, boy."
At the checkout, the little terror is throwing items out of the cart, and Granddad says again in a controlled voice, "William, William, relax buddy, don't get upset. We'll be home in five minutes; stay cool, William."
Very impressed, the woman goes outside where the grandfather is loading his groceries and the boy into the car.
She said to the elderly gentleman, "It's none of my business, but you were amazing in there. I don't know how you did it. That whole time, you kept your composure, and no matter how loud and disruptive he got, you just calmly kept saying things would be okay. William is very lucky to have you as his grandpa."
"Thanks," said the grandfather, "but I'm William .......the little shit's name is Kevin."

Game Over: Obama-1, Osama-0
My hat is off to the fantastic Navy Seals for their fine work taking out Bin Laden. It is too bad that it took so much energy, money and time to locate this guy- for sure. I expect that Pakistan is going to be pissed that we ventured in their country to do a hit. Al Qaeda will certainly attempt retribution.... Won't it be interesting to see the reaction of the Saudis and the rest of the Middle East? So now that Osama is off the list, the cry has been heard to take out Gadhafi. Why don't people see that there is a difference? If that was going to happen, it should only happen from a Libyan.
Here's a good one, Julian Assange has called Facebook "An appalling spying machine "! Apparently the Justice Department is training operatives to utilize social networking (i.e. Facebook) as a tool for spying [that should be really easy].

Resistance May Be Futile
Within thirty years, we will have the technological means to create superhuman intelligence. Shortly after, the human era will be ended. This is when the Singularity begins. Vernon Vinge said in 1993 that we have less than 30 years until it occurs. The big question that you should ask yourself is do we have a choice? Is our destiny preordained and is it futile to resist? Just like any other malady, the first step is to admit that the problem exists and then look for a solution...
"The significant problems we face cannot be solved with the same level of thinking we were at when we created them." - Albert Einstein
I think, without a doubt, we are seeing this on a day-to-day basis throughout the world.
A blonde was recently hired at an office. Her first task was to
go out for coffee. Eager to do well her first day on the job, she
grabbed a large thermos and hurried to a nearby coffee shop.
She held up the thermos and the coffee shop worker quickly came
over to take her order. She asked,
"Is this big enough to hold six cups of coffee?"
The coffee shop worker looked at the thermos, hesitated a few
seconds, then finally replied, "Yeah. It looks like about six
cups to me."
"Oh good!" the blonde sighed in relief. "Then give me two
regular, two black and two decaf."
'History' of the world

The inhabitants of Ancient Egypt were called mummies. They lived in the Sarah Dessert and traveled by Camelot. The climate of the Sarah is such that the inhabitants have to live elsewhere, so areas of the dessert are cultivated by irritation. The Egyptians built the Pyramids in the shape of a huge triangular cube. The Pyramids are a range of mountains between France and Spain.
The Bible is full of interesting caricatures. In the first book of the Bible, Guinesses, Adam and Eve were created from an apple tree. One of their children, Cain, once asked, "Am I my brother’s son?" God asked Abraham to sacrifice Isaac on Mount Montezuma. Jacob, son of Isaac, stole his brother’s birth mark. Jacob was a patriarch who brought up his 12 sons to be patriarchs, but they did not take to it. One of Jacob’s sons, Joseph, gave refuse to the Israelites.
Pharaoh forced the Hebrew slaves to make bread without straw. Moses led them to the Red Sea, where they made unleavened bread, which is bread made without any ingredients. Afterward, Moses went up on Mount Cyanide to get the 10 commandments. David was a Hebrew king skilled at playing the liar. He fought with the Philatelists, a race of people who lived in Biblical times. Solomn, one of David’s sons, had 500 wives and 500 porcupines.
Without the Greeks we wouldn’t have history. The Greeks invented three kinds of columns - Corinthian, Doric and Ironic. They also had myths. A myth is a female moth. One myth says that the mother of Achilles dipped him in the River Stynx until he became intollerable. Achilles appears in the Illiad, by Homer. Homer also wrote The Oddity, in which Penelope was the last hardship that Ulysses endured on his journey. Homer was not written by Homer but by another man of that name.
Socrates was a famous Greek teacher who went around giving people advice. They killed him. Socrates died from an overdose of wedlock.
In the Olympic Games, Greeks ran races, jumped, hurled the biscuits and threw the java. The reward to the victor was a coral wreath. The government of Athens was democratic because people took the law into their own hands. There were no wars in Greece, as the mountains were so high that they couldn’t climb over to see what their neighbors were doing. When they fought with the Persians, the Greeks were outnumbered because the Persians had more men.
Eventually, the Romans conquered the Geeks. History calls people Romans because they never stayed in one place for very long. At Roman banquets, the guests wore garlics in their hair. Julius Caesar extinguished himself on the battlefields of Gaul. The Ides of March murdered him because they thought he was going to be made king. Nero was a cruel tyranny who would torture his poor subjects by playing the fiddle to them.
Then came the Middle Ages. King Alfred conquered the Dames. King Arthur lived in the Age of Shivery. King Harold mustarded his troops before the battle of Hastings. Joan of Arc was cannonized by Bernard Shaw and victims of the Black Death grew boobs on their necks. Finally, Magna Carta provided that no free man should be hanged twice for the same offense.
In midevil times most of the people were alliterate. The greatest writer of the time was Chaucer, who wrote many poems and verses and also wrote literature. Another tale tells of William Tell, who shot an arrow through an apple while standing on his son’s head.
The Renaissance was an age in which more individuals felt the value of their human being. Martin Luther was nailed to the church door at Wittenberg for selling papal indulgences. He died a horrible death, being excommunicated by a bull. It was the painter Donatello’s interest in the female nude that made him the father of the Renaissance. It was the age of great inventions and discoveries. Gutenberg invented the Bible. Sir Walter Raleigh is a historical figure because he invented cigarettes. Another important invention was the circulation of blood. Sir Francis Drake circumcised the world with a 100-foot clipper.
The government of England was a limited mockery. Henry VIII found walking difficult because he had an abbess on his knee. Queen Elizabeth was the "Virgin Queen." As a queen she was a success. When Elizabeth exposed herself before her troops, they all shouted, "hurrah." Then her navy went out and defeated the Spanish Armadillo.
The greatest writer of the Renaissance was William Shakespear. Shakespear never made money and is famous only for his plays. He lived at Windsor with his merry wives, writing tragedies, comedies and errors. In one of Shakespear’s famous plays, Hamlet rations out his situation by relieving himself in a long soliloquy. In another, Lady Macbeth tries to convince Macbeth to kill the King by attaching his manhood. Romeo and Juliet are an example of a heroic couplet. Writing at the same time as Shakespear was Miguel Cervantes. He wrote Donkey Hote. The next great author was John Milton. Milton wrote Paradise Lost. Then his wife died and he wrote Paradise Regained.
During the Renaissance America began. Christopher Columbus was a great navigator who discovered America while cursing about the Atlantic. His ships were called the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Fe. Later, the Pilgrims crossed the Ocean, and this was called the Pilgrim’s Progress. When they landed at Plymouth Rock, they were greeted by Indians, who came down the hill rolling their war hoops before them. The Indian squabs carried porpoises on their back. Many of the Indian heroes were killed, along with their cabooses, which proved very fatal to them. The winter of 1620 was a hard one for the settlers. Many people died and many babies were born. Captain John Smith was responsible for all this.
One of the causes of the Revolutionary Wars was the English put tacks in their tea. Also, the colonists would send their parcels through the post without stamps. During the War, Red Coats and Paul Revere was throwing balls over stone walls. The dogs were barking and the peacocks crowing. Finally, the colonists won the War and no longer had to pay for taxis.
Delegates from the original thirteen states formed the Contented Congress. Thomas Jefferson, a Virgin, and Benjamin Franklin were two singers of the Declaration of Independence. Franklin had gone to Boston carrying all his clothes in his pocket and a loaf of bread under each arm. He invented electricity by rubbing cats backwards and declared "a horse divided against itself cannot stand." Franklin died in 1790 and is still dead.
George Washington married Martha Curtis and in due time became the Father of Our Country. Then the Constitution of the United States was adopted to secure domestic hostility. Under the Constitution the people enjoyed the right to keep bare arms.
Abraham Lincoln became America’s greatest Precedent. Lincoln’s mother died in infancy, and he was born in a log cabin which he built with his own hands. When Lincoln was President, he wore only a tall silk hat. He said, "In onion there is strength." Abraham Lincoln wrote the Gettysburg address while traveling from Washington to Gettysburg on the back of an envelope. He also signed the Emasculation Proclamation, and the Fourteenth Amendment gave the ex-Negroes citizenship. But the Clue Clux Clan would torcher and lynch the ex-Negroes and other innocent victims. On the night of April 14, 1865, Lincoln went to the theater and got shot in his seat by one of the actors in a moving picture show. The believed assinator was John Wilkes Booth, a supposingly insane actor. This ruined Booth’s career.
Meanwhile in Europe, the enlightenment was a reasonable time. Voltare invented electricity and also wrote a book called Candy. Gravity was invented by Issac Walton. It is chiefly noticeable in the Autumn, when the apples are falling off the trees.
Bach was the most famous composer in the world, and so was Handel. Handel was half German, half Italian and half English. He was very large. Bach died from 1750 to the present. Beethoven wrote music even though he was deaf. He was so deaf he wrote loud music. He took long walks in the forest even when everyone was calling for him. Beethoven expired in 1827 and later died for this.
France was in a very serious state. The French Revolution was accomplished before it happened. The Marseillaise was the theme song of the French Revolution, and it catapulted into Napoleon. During the Napoleonic Wars, the crowned heads of Europe were trembling in their shoes. Then the Spanish gorrilas came down from the hills and nipped at Napoleon’s flanks. Napoleon became ill with bladder problems and was very tense and unrestrained. He wanted an heir to inherit his power, but since Josephine was a baroness, she couldn't bear children.
The sun never set on the British Empire because the British Empire is in the East and the sun sets in the West. Queen Victoria was the longest queen. She sat on a thorn for 63 years. Her reclining years and finally the end of her life were exemplatory of a great personality. Her death was the final event which ended her reign.
The nineteenth century was a time of many great inventions and thoughts. The invention of the steamboat caused a network of rivers to spring up. Cyrus McCormick invented the McCormick Raper, which did the work of a hundred men. Samuel Morse invented a code for telepathy. Louis Pastuer discovered a cure for rabbis. Charles Darwin was a naturalist who wrote the Organ of the Species. Madman Curie discovered radium. And Karl Marx became one of the Marx Brothers.
The First World War, caused by the assignation of the Arch-Duck by a surf, ushered in a new error in the anals of human history.
'History' of the world
from student bloopers collected by teachers throughout the United States, from eighth grade through college freshman level. Read carefully, and you will learn a lot.

Living in De Nile
If you are alright with your privacy being eroded by high tech devices that do more in the background than it apparent, so be it. It is with outrage that most of us react. The manufacturers and cell carriers are complacent and swimming a river in Egypt ("de-nile") about the whole issue. I claim that this is just a tip of the iceberg and users will eventually expect to be paid for the information that is being stolen from them now...

Pageantry Galore
I thought the Royal wedding was very impressive and beautiful. Only the Brits know how to do all that pomp and pageantry. Kate and William were beaming! They look like quite the match and I hope they are happy. I know her father is, since he didn't have to shell out for the wedding, ka ching! Too bad the nuptials' date is shared with Adolf Hitler!
So this is the fifth day that my wife and I are on the Dukan Diet (highly recommended by Kate Middleton...). My headache has finally subsided, as the first five days, I have been going through withdrawal from sugar and carbs. I am up-to-here with eggs and yogurt, for sure. More on whether it has worked when I get to my first (well deserved) pizza and beer!
Don't you find it interesting that both GM and Ford have limited read or black cars because of the Japanese tragedy, but all of Chryslers' new car ads ONLY show black cars AND the ads are SO dark, you can hardly make them out. Mebbie it is because they are "imported from Detroit"! Well, in my book; it wasn't that long ago that Fiat was producing junk and gave up on America's higher requirements. It was even more recent that Chrysler products were only a step above that...
A blonde takes her car to a garage. She asks if there's any way they can fix the hail damage on her hood. Seeing that she was blonde, the mechanic decided to have some fun with her. He tells her,
"Well, I'll let you in on something. I'll tell you how to do it on your own, and it will cost you nothing. Go home, and blow as hard as you can into the tail pipe. Then the dents will pop out!"
Excited, the blonde goes home and parks her car in the driveway and begins to blow into the tailpipe.
Another blonde walks by and asks what she's doing. The blonde explains what she's doing and the other blonde yells,
"Gosh! It's blondes like you that give us a bad name! Anyone knows that you have to have the windows rolled up first!"
THINGS YOU DON'T WANT TO HEAR AT THE TATTOO PARLOR
"Eagle? I thought you said BEAGLE."
"We're all out of red, so I used pink."
"There are 2 Os in Bob, right?"
"I’d like you to meet my father-in-law, he’s a laser removal specialist."
"Sorry, sir, your chest will only hold the bottle dinghy."
"Just let me toss back another shot and we’ll get started."
"That call was for you. Hope you meet someone else named Tahiti Sweetie."
"Don’t worry, this is a one of a kind tattoo. Your clover has five leaves, not four."
"Gosh, I hate it when I get the hiccups."
"If you don’t like it, don’t panic. I do bitchin’ cover-ups."
"Anything else you want to say? You've got plenty of room back here."
"I'll bet you can't tell I've never done this before."
"The flag's all done and you know, the folds of fat make a nice waving effect."
"Oops...."
"Latex gloves are for sissies."
"Do you mind paying me up front? People stiff me if I don’t get the money before I do the job"
"I haven’t learned drawing a Grim Reaper yet, so I did a naked chick hugging Mickey instead."
A man walks into an auto parts store and says
"I'd like a rear view mirror for my Yugo."The man behind the counter thinks about this for a while, then says "Yup, seems like a fair trade to me." THINGS YOU DON'T WANT TO HEAR AT THE TATTOO PARLOR

Bin Laden Express
They all look alike to me- to me. They all look alike to me.... How did we miss Bin Laden all these years? He must have had a lot of cash to make happen whatever he needed. I wonder what he looks like now.... I am quite surprised that we haven't managed to "buy" his location. I am also surprised that there hasn't been a Hollywood movie made about him yet...
Put Your Foot In Your Mouth
Employed by the human-development center of a corporation in the midwest, my friend trains employees in proper dress codes and etiquette.
One day as she was stepping onto the elevator, a man casually dressed in jeans and a golf shirt got on with her.
Thinking of her responsibilities, she scolded, "Dressed a little casually today, aren't we?"
The man replied, "That's one benefit of owning the company..."
Spelling Errors and Wrong Notes - San Francisco
A man walked into the downtown Bank of America and on the back of a deposit slip wrote, "this iz a stikkup. Put all your muny in this bag." While standing in line, waiting to give his note to the teller, the man began to worry that someone may have seen him write the note and might call the police before he could reach the teller.
So, the criminal left the Bank of America and walked across to the street to Wells Fargo. After waiting in line for several minutes there, he handed his note to a teller. After reading it, the teller determined that this robber was perhaps a few sandwiches short of a picnic.
She told him that because his note was written on a Bank of America deposit slip, she could not honor his demand. He would either have to fill out a Wells Fargo withdrawal slip or go back to the Bank of America.
Feeling defeated, the man said he understood and left. The Wells Fargo teller promptly called the police, who arrested the man a few minutes later--still waiting in line at the Bank of America.
